BMC Dermatology , 2011, DOI: 10.1186/1471-5945-11-7
Abstract: This randomized clinical trial was conducted for a period of one year. Thirty five patients among 86 participants were eligible to entrance to the study. The patients in two equal randomized groups took topical corticosteroid and combination of oral zinc sulfate-topical corticosteroid. The mean of responses in the corticosteroid group and the zinc sulfate-corticosteroid combination group were 21.43% and 24.7%, respectively.Although, the response to corticosteroid plus zinc sulfate was more than corticosteroid, there was no statistically significant difference between them. It appeared that more robust long-term randomized controlled trials on more patients, maybe with higher doses of zinc sulfate, are needed to fully establish the efficacy of oral zinc in management of vitiligo.chiCTRTRC10000930Vitiligo has been known for thousands of years because of its visually phenotype [1,2]. It is characterized by acquired, idiopathic, progressive, circumscribed hypomelanosis of the skin and hair, with total absence of melanocytes microscopically [3].Vitiligo is the most prevalent pigmentary disorder, occurs worldwide [4], with an incidence rate between 0.1-2% [4-8], irrespective of age, race [4,7-9], ethnic origin, or skin color [10]. Both sexes are equally afflicted [4]. In some studies, a female preponderance has been reported [2,4,11], but the discrepancy has been attributed to a presumed increase in reporting of cosmetic concerns by female patients [4]. Vitiligo commonly begins in childhood or young adulthood [4,12], with peak onset of 10 to 30 years [4,13], but it can develop at any age [4,14-17].It is generally agreed that there is an absence of functional melanocytes in vitiligo skin and that this loss of histochemically recognizable melanocytes is the result of destruction [18]. The etiopathogenesis of vitiligo is complex, and includes genetic factors, autoimmune process, infectious factors, and psychological factors (stress and personality characteristics of patients)

Abstract: Primary Kaposi sarcoma of penis is very rare. We will introduce a 47 years old male patient referred to our clinic from dermatology service, in this report. The patient suffered from itchy penile papules around coronal region. The lab tests had revealed a negative serology of HIV but tissue PCR was positive for Human Herpesvirus-8 (HHV8). Histological findings were compatible with Kaposi sarcoma. Primary Kaposi sarcoma of penis is rare but could occur in HIV negative patients.
Fuzzy Logic Expert Systems in Hospital: A Foundation View
Seyyed Mohammad Reza Farshchi,Mahdi Yaghoobi
Journal of Applied Sciences , 2011,
Abstract: Most of the prescribing and dispensing software systems assessed did not offer consistently useful, relevant support to GPs and pharmacists for making decisions about potentially interacting drugs or usual fatal error in prescribing. The systems varied markedly, due in part to the use of different knowledge bases but also to variable use of the same knowledge base but all traditional system used a regular expert system that not exactly match with the medical concepts and rule. In this study we mentioned the limitation of usual expert system for prescription and drug interaction checking. We proposed the architecture and fundamental of fuzzy expert system for improving the performance of prescription.

Abstract: Palmoplantar lichen planus is a localized and uncommon variant of lichen planus which is mostly resistant to treatment. Our purpose was to discuss all treatment modalities proposed and tested for palmoplantar lichen planus in the literature. A systematic review of the literature was conducted to evaluate evidence regarding all treatment modalities proposed and tested for palmoplantar lichen planus in the literature. Two major databases (PubMed, Google scholar) were searched. The review included all case reports, letters and original articles reporting any treatment for palmoplantar lichen planus but not treatment used in the other type of lichen planus, generalized lichen planus or other type of palmoplantar dermatoses. We have gone over more than 50 articles. There are many drugs that have been used in the treatment of lichen planus and generalized lichen planus but the palmoplantar type is a rare variety of lichen planus. That is why we could not find any clinical trial on the subject and just case reports have been described in this manuscript. In spite of plentiful investigations carried out on lichen planus, there is no treatment modality that has proved to be utterly satisfactory in treatment of palmoplantar lichen planus
Stress and active control analysis of functionally graded piezoelectric material cylinder and disk under electro
Iman Ghaffari,Mehdi Ghannad,Mohammad Parhizkar Yaghoobi
- , 2018, DOI: 10.1177/1045389X17721374
Abstract: The purpose of this article is to investigate the active control behavior and stress analysis of functionally graded piezoelectric material circular hollow cylinder and disk under electro-thermo-mechanical loading. Also, this research presents a new compact formula for analysis of cylinder and disk that could be useful for engineers and designers to get insight into behavioral change of structures by geometry. The exact solutions of the functionally graded piezoelectric material structures could be found based on Lame’s solution. For a radially polarized cylinder and disk with continuously graded properties, it is assumed that material properties are varied by a power-law function, and inner surface and outer surface of these structures are considered to be sensor and actuator, respectively. Based on the exact solution, extensive numerical analyses are carried out to provide an insight into the effect of non-homogeneity constant and control factor on electro-thermo-mechanical behaviors and active control analysis of structures. The results show how the electro-thermo-mechanical behaviors change by non-homogeneity and control factor

Iranian Journal of Neurology , 2012,
Abstract: Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the standard method for observing brain plaques and contrast material injection is necessary for demonstrating the active plaque. This study compared the rate of enhancement of plaques with Gadovist and Magnevist in relapse phase of MS.Methods:In this double blind study, after neurological examination of 62 patients in the attack phase of MS, two consecutive MRIs were performed with Gadovist and Magnevist with 48 hours interval. The two contrast materials were injected in first and second imaging randomly and the reporting radiologist was blind about the contrast material. Results:With both contrast materials, the probability of enhancement of supratentorial plaques was higher than the infratentorial ones. The probability of observing a symptomatic infratentorial enhanced plaque was higher than the supratentorial region and when the symptoms were due to supratentorial lesions, the correspondingenhanced plaque was more probable. It was detected that the number of enhanced plaques was the highest if the imaging was performed in the second week after the relapse, although there was no statistically significant difference when the imaging was done within the first month after the beginning of the symptoms. Conclusion: It seems that both Magnevist and Gadovist could be used as the contrast material to detect enhancing plaques in relapse phase of multiple sclerosis.

Abstract: In this paper we have tried to evaluate four levels of accessibility (motivational level, physical level, professional level, and applied level) related to digital gap in rural areas at Sistan and Baluchestan in Iran. First of all we expressed the concept of digital gap and its measurement yardsticks, and then we have introduced a model for continuous accessibility in digital gap and we explained all four levels in details. After that we came up with research model hypothesizes and the results of the statistical hypothesizes. Our findings show that rural areas in Sistan and Baluchestan in term of motivational level are in good and suitable situation but in term of other levels they don’t have a suitable situation.

Abstract: Introduction: L.turanica is isolated from Phlebotomus Papatasi and rodents, and its pathogenetic role in humans is not clear yet. Methods: This study aimed at determining the infection of sand flies to L.turanica in rural parts of Damghan. Sand flies were collected by sticky papers. After the identification of female specimens, their DNA was extracted and Conventional PCR technique using specific primers of ITS1 was used to search for L.turanica. Products of PCR were sequenced and analyzed with Blast software. Results: Two hundred and eighteen specimens of female P.papatasi were examined for Leishmania infection. One out of 218 females (0.5%) was positive to L.turanica. This is the first report of natural infection of P.papatasi due L.turanica in Semnan Province and the second in Iran. Conclusion: Pathogenesis of L.turanica is not clear on human, but, this parasite is pathogenic in laboratory mice. Furthermore, mix synchronized infection of rodents to L.major and L.turanica aggravates pathogenetic effect of L.major. Immunity of some people to Cutaneous Leishmanianisis in endemic areas can be due to the exposure to L.turanica and this can be a suitable candidate for vaccine investigations against cutaneous leishmaniasis.
